Volunteer Requirements
Volunteers ages 16 and 17 are welcome to assist with approved setup, equipment-move, and tear-down shifts with permission from a parent or legal guardian.
Volunteers must be at least 21 years old to serve as a Pride Bar Bartender, Pride Bar Barback, or Beverage Station ID Checker. Certain restricted roles, including Finance and Volunteer & Information Captains, may require advance approval from festival leadership.
Please review the description and requirements for each role before registering. Volunteers will not be assigned to duties requiring a minimum age, special access, or prior approval unless they meet those requirements.
Attending PrideFest
As a volunteer, you receive free admission to Cedar Valley PrideFest. You are welcome to enjoy the festival before or after your scheduled shift.
Volunteers who are 21 or older will also receive one complimentary drink ticket for the Pride Bar. Bottled water will be available at volunteer stations throughout the festival.
You will receive your volunteer wristband when you check in. Please keep it on throughout the entire PrideFest weekend so you can leave and reenter the festival without waiting in the general admission line.
Volunteer Check-In
All volunteers must check in at the Volunteer Check-In Booth at the Washington Street Gate before each scheduled shift.
The Washington Street Gate is located at the Park Avenue and Washington Street entrance to the new Expo Plaza festival footprint.
At check-in, our team will:
Confirm your shift and assignment
Provide your volunteer wristband and eligible drink ticket
Share any last-minute instructions or training
Explain the festival layout and key locations
Direct you to your assigned volunteer area
Please do not report directly to your volunteer station unless a coordinator has specifically instructed you to do so. Once you arrive at your assigned area, the captain or outgoing volunteers will help familiarize you with the role.
PrideFest Happens Rain or Shine
Cedar Valley PrideFest is an outdoor event and will continue through most weather conditions. Please monitor the forecast, dress appropriately, and report for your scheduled shift unless you receive an official cancellation or safety update from festival leadership.
Rain can create additional needs throughout the festival, so your help may be especially important during changing weather. Severe weather instructions will be communicated as needed.
Tear Down
Tearing down the festival is a major undertaking, and every extra set of hands helps.
Volunteers who have registered for the official Tear Down shift should report to the designated Tear Down meeting location at 11:00 PM on Saturday, August 29. The scheduled shift continues until approximately 2:00 AM Sunday morning.
Please do not begin removing fencing, gates, tents, signage, or other equipment until directed by a Tear Down captain. Safety barriers must remain in place until the festival has closed and guests have cleared the area.

We make every effort to accommodate volunteer preferences and requests to work with specific people. However, assignments and reassignments may be based on the areas of greatest need.
If you can no longer attend a shift, please use your VolunteerLocal profile and select “Cancel This Shift” as soon as possible so we have time to find another volunteer.
